Cleaning it up - part finale

I think I'm finally finished with it all.  I haven't replaced absolutely everything that I lost in the dreaded "incident of 2007", but I've accomplished enough to say with confidence that the incident in question is behind me.  I've got my new car and the expensive electronics whencein, and I've bought most of the miscellaneous contents too.  So this will be my last blog post on the issue.  It's been 3 arduous months, but I've come out a better man.

It's almost done.

I got my new car about a week and a half ago.  I'm quite happy.  Got the color I wanted, stick shift, mags and everything works.  I'm very happy on that front.  I also got my ipod and my car adapter.  I ALSO managed to install the car adapter myself and saved myself a little bit of pocket change.  I bought a new backpack and essentially have covered all my bases.

Except for one.

Aviva , my car insurance company, has yet to send the cheque for the car OR the ipod.  Meanwhile, GMAC has been calling me and asking "What's up?".  I think they're starting to get impatient, and rightfully so.  They're still missing their money, and I'm still missing (some of) mine.

But it's Christmas.  My last course is finished, my Christmas shopping is finished, so I shan't allow this to stress me out.  It's a happy time for me and for those around me, so I refuse to let me spoil it.  See?  Big happy smile on this mug.  Grinning from ear to ear.

No, really.

One track mind?  More like one track blog.

This weekly feature is turning into more of a weekly nightmare.  I went to see my dealer and apparently my insurance company is essentially requiring that I get replacement cost insurance with the dealer.  That's another $1000 out of my pocket.  The car is coming in on Monday, but my rental insurance runs out tomorrow (Friday). so I'll be sans vehicle this weekend.  Not a big deal, but certainly not ideal.

On the bright side, I ordered my ipod, and once the car comes in I can have my car adapter installed, so I'll be back up and running on the transportation front; all that will be left to do is replace the miscellaneous items, including my backpack and its contents, and a few baseball gloves.

So, once all is said and done, this whole theft has put me back between $4000 and $5000, which was money I don't have considering that I'm not working right now.  Fortunately I'm just finishing up the last paper for my last MSc class, so all there is left to do is finish this fershtinken thesis and I can finally start looking for a job.  Money is getting really really tight.  I'm going to have to start cutting down on my extraneous expenses; no more spontaneous purchases of computer parts or unplanned restaurant visits, among other things.
